Step one: the permit comes first

Before a drill bit goes in the ground, we file for your well permit. Texas requires a permit from your local Groundwater Conservation District. Every county we work in has its own district with its own forms, fees, and review timelines. Some approve permits in a day or two. Others take closer to a week.

We handle the filing. You sign ownership documents and provide your property survey or legal description, and we take it from there. We also track permit status so you're not calling the county office every few days to check.

Step two: the site visit

Before the rig shows up, we walk the property with you. We check access for the drill rig, which is heavy equipment with specific clearance needs, and we verify setback requirements. We also pull county groundwater data to estimate depth. That gives you a better cost estimate before the rig ever arrives. Nothing we quote is final until we've been on the property, but the site visit removes most of the guesswork.

Step three: drilling day

The rig arrives early. Most drilling starts at first light.

Plan for noise, equipment, and crew. Drilling a water well is not a quiet operation. There's a rig on site, a mud pit for cuttings, casing pipe laid out, and a team working. It's a full operation on your property for the day. If you have other commitments, plan around it.

Step four: casing and grouting

After casing is set, we grout the space between the casing and the bore wall from a set depth up to the surface. Grouting seals the well against surface water intrusion. A well that isn't properly grouted is vulnerable to contamination for its entire life. Done right beats done fast, and this is the step that proves it.

Step five: pump and pressure system

A drilled well is a hole in the ground until a pump goes in. Most wells in our area use a submersible pump, which sits down in the water column and pushes water up to your pressure tank at the surface. We size the pump to your expected water use and the well's yield.

Same day as the drill, or the following morning, we install the pump, drop pipe, wiring, pressure tank, pitless adapter, and wellhead cap. The wellhead sits above ground, sealed against insects, rodents, and flooding. You get a clean setup that's accessible for future service without digging anything up.

Step six: water testing before we leave

Every new well we drill gets a water quality test before we close out the job. We test for coliform bacteria, nitrates, and a standard minerals panel. The sample goes to an accredited lab. After the well is running

A new well is not set-it-and-forget-it, but it doesn't need much. A few things are worth knowing in the first year.

Your pressure tank has a pre-charge setting. Over time that pre-charge can shift, which affects how often your pump cycles. We check it on our follow-up visits. If your pump is running more than it used to, that's worth a call.

Keep the wellhead sealed and clear. Check that the cap is tight after major rains or flooding, and do not stack equipment or push fill dirt against the casing. Surface contamination almost always comes through a compromised wellhead.

Test your water at least once a year, especially after a flood or a long drought. Conditions underground change. If the water's not right, nothing else on the land works.
