Port Lavaca, Point Comfort, Seadrift, Port O'Connor. Bay on three sides and Gulf on the fourth. Coastal water and septic work planned for, not discovered on your dime.
Calhoun County is bay and Gulf water on nearly every side: Lavaca Bay, Matagorda Bay, San Antonio Bay, and the open Gulf past Port O'Connor. Port Lavaca, Point Comfort, and Seadrift all sit right on the water, and that geography shapes every well and septic decision here more than it does anywhere else in our service area.
We drill wells, service pumps, install and maintain septic systems, and design water treatment across the county, from Port Lavaca and Point Comfort down through Seadrift, Olivia, and out to Port O'Connor.
Coastal ground means careful siting before anything else. A well that ignores the bay geography can end up producing water nobody wants. We evaluate the specific tract before we ever talk numbers.
Calhoun County draws on the Gulf Coast Aquifer system, primarily the Chicot and Evangeline Aquifers. Both run thick under the county, but aquifer thickness isn't the same question as how deep a usable freshwater well runs at your specific address. With bay water on three sides and the Gulf on the fourth, brackish and saline zones sit closer to the surface here than almost anywhere else we work, and how close depends heavily on exactly where your property sits. We're still building out site-specific depth data for this county, so every Calhoun quote starts with an on-site evaluation rather than a county-wide number.
Wells here fall under the Calhoun County Groundwater Conservation District. No permit is required to drill a household or livestock well. The district does require written notice before drilling starts, and the well has to be registered with the district within 90 days of completion. We handle both as part of the job.
Septic on the coast means planning for a high water table and, in low-lying spots, sandy or shifting soil. Aerobic systems are common on the bay side of the county for exactly that reason, and we install and maintain them on contract so compliance never lands on you.
