What short cycling looks like
A normal well system runs long enough to build pressure, shuts off, and stays off while you use a small amount of water. Short cycling is different. The pattern can change from one fixture to another. A small leak may cause occasional starts. A bad tank can make the pump cycle every few seconds. 1. The pressure tank is waterlogged or damaged

Start by checking indoor fixtures, outdoor faucets, and any equipment that uses water. If every fixture is off and the pump still starts, the leak may be underground or inside the well system.
